    Driver

I upgraded last season (2014) to the Callaway Razr X from a Tommy Armour Driver. I am not a rich man so I try to look for the best value for my buck. I am not 100% sold on this driver. I am still playing with the launch angle of the driver. It seems to go higher than I would like. I want a narrower launch angle to get a bit more distance from my tee shots.

    Fairway Woods

3 Wood - I am still using an old Taylormade 3 wood. I use this despite its narrow profile because I hit it well and I hit it long (honestly it rivals my driver on distance).

5 Wood - This Tommy Armour was part of a set I purchased together the Driver broke and I am not married to this one. I use it sparingly because I tend to slice it even more terribly than my driver. I do like 5 woods in general but this one just doesn't fit.

    Irons

Tommy Armour Irons from Sports Authority - This is my first brand new set of Irons. I am enjoying them and can hit them fairly well. Hardly any slice or noticeable fade. I often wonder about test driving a set of clubs but since I don't have money to upgrade why even tease myself with better clubs.

    Wedges

Pitching Wedge - Just part of the Tommy Armour set listed above, nothing special but works really well for me. Have this one completely dialed in.

56 Degree Sand Wedge - This is a 1970's Sandy Andy Wedge. Hey it gets me out of trouble. Nothing special here either.

60 Degree Lob Wedge - Just bought a Wilson 60 Degree Lob Wedge this off season (Winter 2014). I have taken it out for one round and just need to get comfortable with how it reacts.

    Putter

I use a Nickent Omen putter from Dick's Sporting Goods. I like the weight and feel of this putter and have been doing pretty well around the greens.

    Golf Balls

Titleist ProV1 - I have a few brand new of these but most are used recycled versions. I can definitely see a performance difference with these.

  • Yardage Apps

    broken image

    GolfShot

This yardage app is great. The paid version offers yardage to traps and obstacles. I use the free version (see way above where I am a cheapskate). The free version offers enough tracking mechanisms to make this a useful tool. I mostly use it to track shots per round and compare rounds.

    GolfLogix

This was a good yardage app but it just didn't have a great user interface for me and didn't provide what I needed from the free version.

  • Destination Golf Vacations

    Sun Valley, ID

This is nearby and have heard great things about the golf courses in Sun Valley but have not had a chance to experience it yet.

    Sedona, AZ

While on vacation in Sedona I had a chance to play the Sedona Golf Resort. As a "for-fun" golfer this was a good course to play. It was challenging but it was still a good time. I would recommend this course to those who are visiting the Grand Canyon or the surrounding area.
